Feeling nostalgic today, I was checking old photos (like I always do when I slow down and need a positive boost about my achievements so far!) and……whoosh back in July 2014 when Mattia, my number 3, just turned 1 year old! He looked so happy in his chubby cheeks, crawling around the beautiful garden of the country house we stayed at that time.

Small Bday Party! Mattia is having a started with nonno Aurelio and nonna Debby

My brother got married that Summer so the all family was reunited in Le Marche. We decided to spend our holiday in a different place and found a lovely country house in a small fraction of Morro d’Alba named by the name of the place itself…..Vigna Sant’Amico. I could not find a panoramic picture from the ones I took so I have borrowed one from their website, please check the following link for further info and also for a proper photo gallery! http://www.vignasantamico.it

Vigna Sant’Amico Country House – 15 Km from Ancona Airport

Briefly Vigna Sant’Amico is part of Antica Cantina Sant’Amico, an historic wine cellar founded in 1850 producing local DOC wines like Lacrima di Morro d’Alba, Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Rosso Piceno. In fact the country house is hidden within its 45 hectares of vineyards and 12 hectares of private park…..a truly peaceful place. During our stay Paolo, my husband, and few other family’s members went for a wine tasting at the Cantina (just 2 km away) and they came back enthusiast! You can book one through the Reception or following the contact details from their website https://www.anticacantinasantamico.it

The Country House was renovated in 2006 and maintains its rustic character with a touch of charme in each of the 9 apartments, all with old furniture authentic from Marche. Our own was called Albiano with a spacious double room (where we also had a cot bed provided by them), a bathroom with bathtub-shower, a nice living room with double sofa bed (the boys were sleeping here) and a dining table, last a small but functional kitchen. The extra treat was our own pergola with dining table and chairs overlooking the garden and the vineyards. You can imagine how nice was breakfast time and how relaxed we were watching the kids playing safely while there! There were few other families at the time of our stay and it was great for our boys to find friends to play with while I was making dinner. Nice atmosphere also for grown ups, chatting in the common garden and most of the time sharing tips about where to go the following day ……so so useful to access with a simple chat all the info you need!

The garden in the morning

Sunset from the garden…a special treat!

Extra benefits of the Country House were for sure the BBQ area that we used several times as we always feel inspired by the variety of fresh, local and high quality ingredients you can find in Italy. Also the laundry area, with the 5 of us there is always plenty to wash, but be prepared to queue for your turn if other families are around! There is also a Tennis Court although not in the Country House, it can be used by the guests and booked through Reception.

The best entertainment, if you decide not to spend the day out at the beach (Senigallia is only 12 km away and the Conero Riviera is 45 mins drive) or discovering the pretty small villages/castles and the natural parks, is of course the swimming pool! Nice size (12mx6m) and secluded from the apartments and the garden it was a great plan B, but also offered an extra activity for the boys once back from our day. They had so much fun splashing in and out with the new friends they made, deck chairs and parasol are available to all guests and we always found our cosy space.

This is for sure one of the best holidays we had, surrounded by nature and tranquility, also in such harmony with other people! Francesca, the owner, was very welcoming and always happy to help. Forgot to say they also accept small pets and that you obviously need a car as the closest village, Morro d’Alba, is 5 km away.
